STREETLINE integrates four concepts into a single experience that emphasizes:
Workshops that teaches music theory and basic percussion techniques. Members will learn percussion fundamentals and how to apply music theory, showmanship, and musicianship. Members will learn correct posture, breathing control, relaxation approaches, and how to avoid muscle tension while playing. Members are also encouraged to explore their own expressive possibilities, which will develop improvisational skills and personal performance style.
As performing artists, it is essential that percussionists maintain exceptional physical health. STREETLINE provides interactive and informative workshops that equip members with important nutrition and wellness tools to prepare them for the rigor of performing complicated routines with heavy percussion instruments.
Percussion compliments several academic subjects and can help students to better understand those subjects. STREETLINE focuses on Math, Science, and Language Arts for the academic enrichment component of the program. Each workshop makes the connection between academics and percussion and uses activities and components that develop and enhance competency skills in the related academic subjects.
STREETLINE implements an incentive-based program that rewards members for making good choices and demonstrating positive behaviors. Based on the target population demographics, many members have likely been exposed to various high-risk, negative behaviors and influences. STREETLINE provides inspirational and motivational activities and workshops that are designed to encourage personal growth, strengthen moral character, improve self-esteem, and develop leadership abilities.
